Patriots Ty Law to Speak at UMass Dartmouth Center for Marketing Research Celebrity/Scholarship Dinner

The Center for Marketing Research (CMR) at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth is proud to announce former New England Patriots star Ty Law will be the celebrity speaker at their 13th Annual Celebrity/Scholarship Dinner on April 10, 2013 at the Venus de Milo Restaurant in Swansea, MA.

Tajuan “Ty” Law is a retired National Football League cornerback who has played for the New York Jets (2005,2008), Kansas City Chiefs (2006-07), Denver Broncos (2009) and most importantly, the New England Patriots. Born on February 10, 1974 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, Law attended Aliquippa High School where he played football as a cornerback, wide receiver, safety and running back.

In his college career, Law attended the University of Michigan for three years (1992-94). He received the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award, which is given annually to a collegiate All-American football player. Law was a two-time Big Ten Conference selection. He went on to finish his college career with 154 tackles (34 Assists, 120 Solo), 6 interceptions and 17 passes defended.

After declaring himself eligible for the 1995 NFL draft, Law was drafted 23rd overall in the first round by the New England Patriots where he spent most of his career. In 1998, Law took his first trip to the Pro Bowl when he led the league with 9 interceptions. In 2001, he won his first Super Bowl with the Patriots after his 47 yard interception on a Kurt Warner pass ultimately led to a touchdown and the Patriots winning 20-17 over the St. Louis Rams. Law later went on to win two more Super Bowls Championships with the Patriots in 2003 and 2004.

In 2011, Law was honored at The Tradition at TD Garden with the Football Legacy Award. He explains, “No matter what uniform I ever played in, I’m going to always bleed the red, white and blue. I’m a Patriot until I die. The Jets, Kansas City and Denver Broncos, those were pit stops in my career. I just want to let the fans know I didn’t forget. This is where it all started; this is where it’s all going to end.” Ty received the award with other exceptional athletes including Larry Bird, Micky Ward, Bobbie Gibb, Mike Lowell and Willie O’Ree.

This is an exceptional opportunity to get up close and personal with a true football legend. Guests will enjoy a full-course dinner and will have the opportunity to hear Ty Law speak about his life and career experiences. He will also take questions from the audience. Dinner tickets are $75 each ($750 for a table of 10). Pictures will be available for purchase and autographed by Law. There will be a silent auction of autographed Ty Law football memorabilia at the dinner. Photo opportunities will be available.

You can be a part of this unique event in a number of ways. Buy tickets for yourself or any sports fan, donate a scholarship and take the stage with Mr. Law as he awards the scholarships to recipients, or purchase an ad in the keepsake program.
