Want this bike?! Wait Until You Hear the Price..

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today we’re here to present this lovely piece of craftsmanship. Like what you see? How about if we were to tell you it’s $70,000!? Like it now? Maybe a little less, but at the end of the day we must give credit where credit is due for this revolutionary creation!

In 1859, Michael Thonet, a German-Austrian furniture maker, designed the bentwood No. 14 chair which is well-known today. Fast forwarding 150 years later, Andy Martin, the creator of the Thonet bike, used the company’s legendary steam bending technology to construct this bike made out of wood! Hard to believe Mr. Thonet would have thought his technology would be used to make such a bike.

The bike uses beech wood that is bent as pieces of the wood are heated on a steam box. The shapes, or arcs, are formed with the aid of a CNC machine that helped construct the bike’s frame and seat. The old-fashioned design leaves users without the luxury of breaks, so be sure to wear a helmet!

For more photos of the bike, follow the link below. Let us know what you think of the bike, we love you to hear from our readers! Until next week…
