Justin Timberlake Bringing Myspace Back!?

Happy Tuesday everyone! We hope your weekends were good! This week we come to you with a story of revival-possibly. Justin Timberlake was announced in June of 2011, to take an ownership stake in MySpace. “There’s a need for a place where fans can go to interact with their favorite entertainers, listen to music, watch videos, share and discover cool stuff and just connect. MySpace has the potential to be that place,” Timberlake said in a statement.

MySpace was sold to Specific Media for $35 million back in June 2011 and has since been revamped into an entertainment site to help connect musicians and music lovers alike. According to Mashable Business, “Timberlake and Specific Media plan on focusing the site on entertainment, aiming to make it the place to go for original shows, videos and music. They also plan on launching “socially-activated advertising campaigns,” according to the statement, which would let users share their favorite ads with friends.”

Just yesterday, Mashable Entertainment stated MySpace and Justin Timberlake have joined with Panasonic and showcased their new MySpace TV service at the 2012 Consumer Electronics Show. The app will come out with Panasonic’s new HDTVs as well as their 2010 devices, via a software update. The service will allow users to see what their MySpace friends are watching, and allow them make comments through the TV set. The app will also become available for smartphone and tablet devices.

As of now, MySpace’s channels will focus on music and then expand to reality shows, news, movies, etc. Marcus Liassides, executive VP of MySpace, also told Mashable that it wants to expand the service to Facebook and other TV devices.

What do you guys think? Do you think MySpace TV will be the right campaign to help MySpace come back into the limelight? What do you think of the app becoming available for Facebook? Is Justin Timberlake the best candidate to head MySpace’s comeback? Let us know your thoughts, we love to hear from you!
