Can it be True!? Netflix Hikes Prices!

It’s true my friends! Netflix has implemented a new policy beginning on Tuesday (July 12) increasing account plans. Current members will have until Sept. 1, 2011 to choose between one of Netflix’s new 3 plans, but new customers will be opted to choose once an account is created.

 You can either choose:

  • all-you-can-eat streaming for $7.99
  • all-you-can-eat, one-at-a-time DVDs for $7.99 (more if you want 2 DVDs at once)
  • or a combo for both at $15.98

There will no longer be the unlimited steaming and DVD rentals. According to Andy Rendich, Netflix Chief Service and Operations Officer,”Netflix members love watching instantly, but we’ve come to recognize there is still a very large continuing demand for DVDs by mail. Do to this finding, it was only a matter of time before they decided it was time to start charging customers a higher price. It’s a logical move for any business, but it has caused their customers to become upset.

There are alternatives if you seek to find another carrier:

  • HULU Plus
  • Neighborhood friendly, Blockbuster
  • Amazon Prime
